Simple Valentine’s Day Playset Decor
Decorating my girls’ playset each season is one of my favorite ways to add festive decor to the outside! However, if there is one thing I have learned it’s that it’s best to keep Valentine’s Day playset decor simple, at least here in Chicago where temperatures can be quite frigid by mid February.
Since our playset door is already painted pink, (Sherwin Williams Rosy Outlook) it has a bit of understated Valentine’s Day flair already. A few little touches are all it really takes to add a spark of joy to the backyard. In turn, it’s something that I enjoy looking out my the kitchen window to each day!

When we originally made over our playset we installed flower boxes similar to these, and one of the easiest seasonal updates that I do is create a few picks to stick into it. I find things at Michaels or the DollarTree and reattach them to a bamboo cooking skewer so that I can just poke them in place and they stay quite well! Here I used a few foam heart picks, a bouquet of faux roses, and pink vase filler– all found at DollarTree.
The heart wreath hanging on the door was another a DollarTree DIY. You can see how I made that here. And lastly, the heart garland was also an easy DollarTree DIY. I took apart this hanging heart plaque, painted it with acrylic paints, and restrung them on this ribbon. Somehow the easiest projects always have a way of turning out to be my favorite and this one was no exception!
